Microdermabrasion in Charlotte

Charlotte microdermabrasion is now available by Michele Garris, licensed esthetician at Genevieve & Co in the Dilworth area. Microdermabrasion works by removing the uppermost layer of dead skin cells from the face and is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you can treat yourself to. It works on all skin types and colors including sensative skin. Microdermabrasion is basically an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure that leaves skin looking softer and brighter. 

Microdermabrasion is a skin care treatment that improves clogged pores, skin texture and color by removing the uppermost layer of skin leaving it more supple and vibrant and stimulates the elastic tissue beneath the surface of the skin resulting in a healthier and firmer appearance. By removing the dead skin the penetration of skin care products is increased by up to 50% and make up will also go on more smoothly.

It is not effective for deeper problems such as thick scars, stretch marks, or deep acne scars. It makes subtle changes, causing no skin color change or scarring. With microdermabrasion, there is less down time than with traditional dermabrasion. Skin is temporarily pink but fully recovers within 24 hours. It does not require surgery or anesthetics.  We use the newer diamond tip microdermabrasion machine. 

Microdermabrasion uses the same vacuum technology and hand-held wand as crystal microdermabrasion, but there aren't any crystals moving through the tip. The diamond tip itself exfoliates the skin and the vacuum whisks the dead skin away. Diamond-tip microdermabrasion achieves the same results as traditional crystal microdermabrasion without feeling uncomfortable. It is also usually better for sensitive skin. 

Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion - what can I expect with this treatment? 
After microdermabrasion, your skin will have a fresh pink glow and a softer texture. You can apply moisturizer afterwards, and return to your day of activity. 

Be sure to be careful with your skin a few days after the microdermabrasion treatment: don't expose your skin to the sun or use harsh abrasives on your face. Wear a gentle physical sunscreen, even if its a cloudy day.

Microdermabrasion Contraindications
*Do not get microdermabrasion if you have extremely sensitive skin, herpes simplex, diabetes, vascular conditions like rosacea, skin inflammation, bacterial infections, keloid scarring, cuts and abrasions, or have gotten Botox within 3 days. Other contraindications to microdermabrasion include inflamed acne, having a sunburn on the face, or if you are taking anti-coagulant drugs.
